Grumbach is a small settlement belonging to the municipality Breitungen / Werra in the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen in Thuringia .

location

Grumbach is located on the body of the same name north of Breitungen and east of the Werra on federal highway 19 . The corridor is mostly located in the Werraniederung and on the adjacent slopes to Barchfeld .

history

The settlement was first mentioned on September 13, 1137. The large homestead on the edge of the hamlet towards Barchfeld belonged to Grumbach and was the manor house. Until 1862 it belonged to the Butler family , Henneberg feudal people. In 1925 Grumbach was incorporated into Breitungen.
