Bußhof is a hamlet-like district of Breitungen / Werra in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district in Thuringia .

location

Bußhof is located south of Breitungen in the Werraniederung near the Breiter Seen nature reserve . To the west there is a forest area, to the east the Werra flows . The Eisenach – Lichtenfels railway runs past the village to the west .

history

On May 17, 1016, Bußhof was first mentioned as a homestead. A few settled individual agricultural farms belonged to Breitungen, which then developed further. This also included Bußhof.

Originally the Bußhof belonged to the Vogtei Herrenbreitungen , which had been under the joint administration of the County of Henneberg -Schleusingen and the Landgraviate of Hesse since 1360 . As a result of the extinction of the Henneberger and the Salzung Treaty of 1583, the Bußhof did not come under Hessian administration, but was incorporated into the Frauenbreitungen office, which had belonged to the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen since 1680 . From 1920 the Bußhof was in the Free State of Thuringia .
