CunninLynguists (allusion to cunning (dt. "Torn"), cunnilingus and linguists ) is an American alternative hip-hop group from Lexington , Kentucky and Atlanta , Georgia , who are partly right for their multifaceted and hip-hop unusual means underlined style as well as refined texts became known. The CunninLynguists unite different currents, which contain both the lyrical element of conscious rap and moments of soul and jazz as well as an idiosyncratic mixture of samples of polka , blues and psychedelic sounds.

CunninLynguists existed since Mixtape Sloppy Seconds Vol. 2 from the two rappers Deacon the Villain and Natti, and the producer Kno having a certain level of recognition by the remixes of Jay-Z's The Black Album gained. They released their debut album, Will Rap for Food , in October 2001, back then without Natti. In April 2003 the second album called SouthernUnderground came out on the market, on which Mr. SOS, who could be heard occasionally on the first album, joined the group. On of RJD2 produced song Seasons is Masta Ace heard. They then went on tour in the USA, Canada and Europe until 2004 .

The third album by the CunninLynguists was released in early 2006 under the title A Piece of Strange and with Cee-Lo Green and Immortal Technique as guest musicians. Kno, who previously shaped the group as a rapper, limited himself mainly to producing from now on. The fourth album, Dirty Acres , was released in late 2007. The recordings included Little Brothers Phonte, Devin The Dude and members of the Dungeon Family .

In October 2010 Kno released his debut album Death Is Silent , on which Tonedeff, Substantial, Sheisty Krist and Tunji appeared as features. Furthermore, the album NWL by Deacon the Villain and Sheisty Krist was released in December 2010 . Except for two songs produced by Kno and Kokayi, the album is a solo work by Deacon the Villain.

In March 2011, the fifth full studio album by the CunninLynguists was released, entitled Oneirology . It contains features from Tonedeff, Big KRIT, Tunji and Anna Wise (Sonnymoon) , among others .
