Dungeon Family

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dungeon Family is an Atlanta , Georgia-based artist collective that has existed since the early 1990s . Its best known members are OutKast , Cee-Lo Green and Bubba Sparxxx . The individual artists and groups are produced almost exclusively by Organized Noize , who have written hits for TLC and En Vogue , among others . Within the Dungeon Family, the term " Dirty South " was coined, which today describes a whole genre. It was first used on the Goodie Mob album Soul Food .

The Dungeon Family can be divided into two generations. The " first generation " has existed since 1993, while the " second generation " was only added at the beginning of the new millennium and therefore does not appear on most of the major publications.

So far only one album by the Dungeon Family ( Even in Darkness , 2001) has been released. Except for the last song, only the first generation can be heard on this one. In 2004 Big Boi founded the supergroup "Purple Ribbon All-Stars", which consists of members of the Dungeon Family. She released two mixtapes on his label "Purple Ribbon Records" .
