Curtis Sittenfeld

Elizabeth Curtis Sittenfeld (* 1975 in Cincinnati , Ohio ) is an American writer .

Life

Curtis Sittenfeld was born in Cincinnati to Elizabeth and Paul G. Sittenfeld. She attended the Seven Hills School in Cincinnati and from the eighth grade, the Groton prep school in Groton ( Massachusetts ). She then studied first at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie and then at Stanford University in Stanford (California) .

After studying Curtis Sittenfeld moved to Charlotte ( North Carolina ), where they for the Charlotte Observer wrote. She then worked for Fast Comany magazine in Boston and attended the University of Iowa Iowa Writers' Workshop . Her articles have appeared in the following magazines and newspapers, among others: The New York Times , The Washington Post and People .

In 2005 Curtis Sittenfeld published her debut novel Prep (German title: Eine Klasse für sich ). The novel tells the experiences of the student Lee Fiora at the fictional elite school Ault . The New York Times voted Prep one of the ten best books of 2005. In her novel The President's Wife , published in 2008 , Curtis Sittenfeld draws a fictional portrait of former first lady Laura Bush .

Sittenfeld's books have been translated into twenty-five languages.
