Cyhexatin is a chemical compound from the group of organotin compounds .
Extraction and presentation
Cyhexatin can be obtained by a multi-stage reaction starting from bromocyclohexane or chlorocyclohexane with magnesium . The resulting intermediate product, cyclohexylmagnesium bromide , is reacted with tin (IV) chloride to form tricyclohexyltin and then forms cyhexatin on reaction with sodium hydroxide .
properties
Cyhexatin is a colorless solid that is poorly soluble in water. It is stable in water and is a breakdown product of azocyclotin and is itself broken down to dicyclohexyltin .
use
Cyhexatin is used as a non-systemic contact acaricide against motile spider mite stages (also against resistant species) and was introduced in 1968 as an anti- mite agent.
Admission
In the EU states including Germany and Austria as well as in Switzerland, no plant protection products are permitted that contain cyhexatin as an active ingredient.
