Czartowo (Przelewice)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Czartowo ( German  Teufelsdamm ) is a residential area in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland . He belongs to the Gmina Przelewice (municipality of Prillwitz) in the Powiat Pyrzycki (Pyritzer Kreis) .

The residential area is in Western Pomerania , about 50 km southeast of Stettin and about 15 km east of the district town of Pyritz .

In the census in the German Empire in 1871 , the "Etablissement Teufelsdamm" was recorded as a residential area of the rural community of Rosenfelde . At that time 6 residents were counted in 1 residential building.

The place name is likely to be derived from the landscape designation "Teufelsdamm" for a small elongated elevation that separated the Großer Plönesee from the Kleiner Plönesee except for a narrow watercourse. Since the lowering of the water level in the middle of the 19th century and the extensive drainage of the Kleiner Plönsee, it has been located at the southeastern end of the Plönsee.

Until 1945 Teufelsdamm was in the municipality of Rosenfelde and belonged to the district of Pyritz in the Prussian province of Pomerania . Teufelsdamm was not officially listed as a special place to live, but was entered on the measurement table as "Teufelsdamm".

After the Second World War, Teufelsdamm, like all of the Pomerania, came to Poland. It received the Polish place name "Czartowo".
