Czernik-Verlag "Edition L"

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Czernik-Verlag "Edition L" was a German poetry publisher . It was founded in 1974 in Loßburg in the Black Forest by the publishers Inge Czernik (1941–1993) and Theo Czernik (1929–2013), inspired by the book “Wozu Lyrik heute” by Hilde Domin .

In the following years a large number of volumes and anthologies of poetry appeared. The aim was expressly not to offer a platform for the lyrical avant-garde, but rather the presentation of personally influenced, Christian-humanistically oriented poetry: "Poetry must again be a message, contain words that can be trusted." This publishing line also documented itself in titles like “Say yes to me. Why women and men profess their unborn life. ”In 1993 the publishing house moved to Hockenheim and in 2011 the last time to Speyer in the Palatinate.

Since 1984 the Lyriktage of the Czernik-Verlag has been held annually in Freudenstadt and at different locations (including Comburg , Schwäbisch Hall , Bayreuth and Schwetzingen ) ( Lyrischer Oktober , then Freudenstädter Lyriktage , 2006 Kurpfälzer Lyriktage ). The conferences offered practical workshop discussions, lectures, seminars and public readings by the participants and served to work together on the poem, to exchange experiences and to discuss and communicate with readers, booksellers and the media. They were opened by well-known personalities from literary life such as Hilde Domin, Marcel Reich-Ranicki , Wolf Biermann and Ulla Hahn .

From 1986 onwards, an annual prize was awarded for poetry ( Prize of the Freudenstädter Lyriktage ), which was renamed the Inge Czernik Prize after the publisher's death . The prize was awarded by a 12-person jury following a public tender. Prize winners included:

In 2013 the publishing house was dissolved after the publisher's death.
