Dörflas is a district of the town of Schleiz in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia .

geography

The corridor of Dörflas is located on a high plateau surrounded by forest above the Saale near Walsburg . The hamlet is out of the way, but can be easily reached by road.

geology

The geological area of the hamlet is located in the south-east Thuringian slate mountains . These soils are very fertile due to the high proportion of fine soil and the high humus content .

history

The hamlet was first mentioned on March 11, 1489. The manor was used to supply the nearby Walsburg . In 1923 the estate had a total of 152 hectares of usable space, which the Gera entrepreneur Karl-Friedrich Wetzel had been cultivating since 1916. His son took over the estate and had the chapel built in 1935. It was expropriated after the Second World War as part of the first land reform and given to resettlers and new farmers. In 1948 the manor house was destroyed.

The manor chapel , private until 1945 , was restored as a church in 1998/1999 and consecrated again in 1999. In a competition organized by Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR) in 2010 as part of the “Schwefelhölzchen” campaign, the band emerged as the winner among the letters sent in and won the title “Smallest Church in Central Germany”.

Dörflas was part of the municipality of Crispendorf , which was incorporated into the town of Schleiz on January 1, 2019.
