Dörtdivan is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Bolu . The place is about 40 kilometers east of the provincial capital Bolu .
The district is located in the eastern center of the province. As an inner circle, it has no border with other provinces. It is bordered by Yeniçağa County to the north, Gerede to the east, Kıbrıscık to the south and the central district to the west . The city is four kilometers south of the European route 80 , which leads from Edirne via Istanbul to Erzurum and the Iranian border and touches the district in the north.
Dörtdivan is located in the valley of the Gerede Çayı river , the mountainous south of the district is part of the Köroğlu Dağları with the 2378 m high Köroğlu Tepesi on the border with Kıbrıscık. In the extreme south lies the small lake Eğriova Göleti , in the north the Divan Göleti .
The district was split off from Gerede Province on May 20, 1990. In addition to the district town (about 42 percent of the district population), it also consists of 24 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 173 residents per village. Doğancılar is the largest village with 347 inhabitants. The district has the second lowest population density in the province.
