district

The district borders in the north on the district of Mengen , in the east on Gerede , in the south on Dörtdivan and in the west on the central district. The European route 80 , which comes from Edirne via Istanbul to Erzurum and the Iranian border, and the O-4 motorway , which connects Istanbul with Ankara , run parallel through the district from west to east . The D-750 branches off to the north and leads to Zonguldak on the Black Sea . Lake Yeniçağa Gölü , which is home to numerous species of birds, lies in the north of the district town .

The smallest district in the province was created on May 20, 1990 by splitting off from the Gerede district to the east of it. All of today's 16 villages ( Köy ) previously belonged to the Bucak Yeniçağa (1985: 10,548 inh.) In the Gerde district (1985: 65,025 in.). The villages are inhabited by an average of 170 people, most of the inhabitants are in the village of Hamzabey (336).
