history

Railway boss Heinz Dürr announced the establishment of a project company for Stuttgart 21 on February 9, 1996 in Stuttgart. Separate areas should be responsible for the routing, the station design and the land utilization. In addition, a supervisory board should be set up in which the federal government, the state, the city of Stuttgart and the region should be represented. A project advisory board should, in place of the previous steering committee, accompany the development of the project.

The company was founded by Dürr in the same year in order to implement Stuttgart 21 with short management structures and quick decision-making processes. The articles of association are dated June 5, 1996. The entry in the commercial register took place on August 15, 1996. The object of the company was "the preparation, coordination and control of planning, construction preparation, construction and supervision of the" Stuttgart 21 "railway project (reconstruction of the Stuttgart main station to a through station with lowered and overbuilt track systems; clearing of previous track areas for urban development use) including control of the allocation and the handling of all work ”. The company was jointly represented by two managing directors or one managing director and an authorized signatory .

The share capital was 100,000 DM. 90 percent of the company was owned by Deutsche Bahn AG. The remaining ten percent (10,000 DM) were held by Drees & Sommer .

The company was located, with the address Am Hauptbahnhof 7 , in rented rooms of the new Landesbank near Stuttgart Central Station. In 1997 it placed the order for the construction of the tower forum . In the spring of 2000, 38 employees worked for the company. Due to the uncertain future of the Stuttgart 21 project at the time, they should initially focus more on other major projects, e.g. B. take care of the new Berlin rail hub. Company employees have been loaned to other offices. When planning had stalled, a number of employees left the company in 2000. In mid-2000 the company still had 25 employees. Six of them were still concerned with Stuttgart 21. During this time, another five employees were laid off.

In spring 2001 eight employees worked for the company. The workforce would have increased to over 60 if the Deutsche Bahn supervisory board had given the go-ahead for the project on May 16, 2001. With effect from August 1, 2001, Sommer resigned from the management and sold his shares to DB Netz AG. This should go hand in hand with a complete reorientation of the company, which was to operate under the name DB Projekt Süd as one of three nationwide planning groups. It was planned to increase the workforce to 80 by the end of the year.

As part of this reorganization of planning and construction activities at Deutsche Bahn, the group tied the project company closer to itself in 2001. The company's competencies were severely curtailed. Personnel, purchasing and procurement should in future be controlled from the Frankfurt headquarters of DB Netz AG.

In December 2001, Deutsche Bahn Projekte Süd GmbH was being founded. In addition to Stuttgart 21, the new Wendlingen – Ulm and Neu-Ulm 21 line, it should also oversee various container station projects. At that time it employed around 50 people and should be increased to more than 100 employees.

On April 23, 2003, an application was made to merge the company with DB Projekt Verkehrsbau GmbH and DBBauProjekt GmbH to form DB ProjektBau GmbH . It was carried out on October 8, 2003.

In mid-2013, a new project company for Stuttgart 21 and the new Wendlingen-Ulm line was founded with DB Projekt Stuttgart-Ulm GmbH .
