Daði Örn Heimisson (born August 23, 1983 in Reykjavík ) is a former Icelandic ice hockey player who has spent much of his career at Ísknattleiksfélagið Björninn .

Career

Daði Heimisson began his career as an ice hockey player in his native Reykjavík with Ísknattleiksfélagið Björninn , where he made his debut in the Icelandic ice hockey league at the age of 17 . In 2004 he moved to Denmark, where he played one year each for IK Aarhus and the second team of Herning Blue Fox in the 1st division , the country's second-highest division. In 2006 he won the league with the blue foxes. After five more years at Ísknattleiksfélagið Björninn, he returned in 2011 for a year in the Danish 1st division and played there for Amager Ishockey . After playing for his home club again from 2012 to 2015, he joined the new league UMFK Esja , where he ended his career in 2016.

International

Daði Heimisson played for Iceland as a youth. He initially took part in the U18 World Championship of the Europe Division 2 2000 and the U18 qualification I for the World Championship of Division III and the U20-D World Championship in 2000 . There, however, the team only came in last. In the following year, the Icelanders could not take part in the World Cup, but had to play the qualification for 2002, which they achieved with wins against Luxembourg (6: 2) and Iceland (20: 1). In 2002 he played for Iceland in Division III and a year later in Division II.

In parallel to his appearances in the junior teams, Daði Heimisson already played in the men's national team . He made his debut as a 16-year-old at the 2002 Division II World Cup . He also competed in Division II in the title fights in 2003 , 2005 , 2007 and 2008 . After relegations in the meantime, he played in Division III in 2004 and 2006 , but was able to celebrate the immediate resurgence there with his team at the tournaments that were held in Reykjavík .

At the U18 World Cup in 2004 , he was the assistant coach of the Icelandic team, which played in Division II.
