Olivier Nicolás André Dacourt (born September 25, 1974 in Montreuil ) is a former French football player .
Career
Dacourt began his professional career in 1992 with Racing Strasbourg . In the 1997/98 season, the midfielder moved to the English Premier League for Everton , but could not gain a foothold and in 1999 went back to France for RC Lens . In 2000, the second attempt in the Premier League at Leeds United followed . In Leeds , he developed into one of the best midfielders in the English league. During his time at Leeds, he advanced to the French national team, but could not prevail in the fight for a place in the squad for the 2002 World Cup . It was only since his move to the Italian club AS Roma in 2003 that he was part of the French national team and played his first major tournament at the 2004 European Football Championship in Portugal . In 2006 he moved to league rivals Inter Milan and won the Italian championship three times.
The Milanese awarded him in February 2009 until the end of the season in the Premier League for Fulham FC . At the end of the 2009/10 season, his contract in Milan was not renewed and Dacourt found a new employer in September 2009. He signed a one-year contract with Belgian champions Standard Liège . On February 8, 2010, the player and club agreed the termination agreement after the player had only been used nine times in the season, including three times in the starting eleven.
After the end of his playing days, Dacourt worked from 2011 to 2016 for the television channel Eurosport as a football expert, in 2016 he switched to Canal + . His documentary “Ma Part d'Ombre” caused a sensation, in which he talked to footballers like Franck Ribéry and Zlatan Ibrahimovic about difficult moments in their careers and their public image. After his film “Je ne suis pas un singe”, in which he discussed racism in football, was broadcast, Dacourt received threatening phone calls.

Dacourt's son Tewin (born April 25, 1997 ) has been part of the racing team at Racing Strasbourg since autumn 2014 .
