Incidents
On January 3, 2019, on the Yantian Express , which was in the North Atlantic , a fire broke out in a container loaded on deck in hold 2 , which could not be extinguished with on-board resources due to the poor weather conditions. The fire fighting dragged on for two weeks, it was not until January 21 that the fire was declared extinguished by the rescue company Smit Salvage . The fire was probably caused by spontaneous combustion of the coconut charcoal loaded in a container, a pyro-charcoal that is used as water pipe charcoal for hookahs . In the cargo documents, the contents of the container were stated as coconut pellets instead of coconut charcoal, which should have been declared as dangerous goods .
