Dana Reeve

Dana Reeve (born March 19, 1961 as Dana Morosini in Teaneck , † March 6, 2006 in New York City ) was an American actress and singer . She became known through her marriage to the actor and Superman actor Christopher Reeve, who died in 2004 .

Life

Dana Reeve was born in 1961 in New Jersey to the cardiologist couple Charles and Helen Morosini . She took acting classes at the California Institute of the Arts. Shortly before the birth of her son, she married the actor Christopher Reeve in 1992 . Her husband was paralyzed from the neck in a riding accident from 1995 and died in 2004 of complications from a wound infection. Together, they had both publicly advocated the improvement of medical treatment for paraplegics . They were also prominent advocates of stem cell research .

She was a founding member and on the board of directors of the Christopher and Dana Reeve Paralysis Resource Center (PRC). a. for the rehabilitation of paraplegics and for legal measures to improve the treatment of paraplegics. Her foundation had previously awarded research grants of $ 55 million and paid an additional $ 7.5 million to disabled people.
