Dancing on the Ceiling is Lionel Richie's third studio album , released in July 1986 and named after the song of the same name .

history

The album was originally supposed to be named after the song that was released first, Say You, Say Me , but for strategic sales reasons it was named after the song Dancing on the Ceiling . Although the album failed to match the success of Can't Slow Down , it sold over 4 million copies and all songs except Deep River Woman reached the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. In contrast to the previous album, the album is not equipped with very ballads and mostly contains pop elements. In the United States , the album made it to the top of the album charts, where it replaced the soundtrack album for Top Gun and was also replaced by it.
