Daniel Graf (born September 7, 1981 in Graefenroda ) is a former German biathlete .
Life
Graf was part of the German national biathlon team for eight years. His hometown club was SV Eintracht Frankenhain at the beginning of his career . After the 2008/09 season he moved to TSV Siegsdorf . He was twice junior world champion with the relay and took third place twice in the sprint and once in the relay. His best World Cup result so far was a 2nd place.
Originally Graf, who is called "Gräffix" by his colleagues, was only supposed to start in the European Cup in the 2007/2008 season , but was then appointed to the World Cup squad to replace the sick Andreas Birnbacher . There he justified the trust placed in him by national coach Frank Ullrich and, among other things, took fifth place in Kontiolahti and third place in Hochfilzen , where he ran from 14th position on the podium in the pursuit race. This gave him a regular place in the German national team.
On March 9, 2008 he achieved his best result in Khanty-Mansiysk / RUS with 2nd place in the mass start and also achieved a top ten placement in the mass start at the season final race in Oslo with 10th place.
On May 10, 2012, the 7-time German champion announced his retirement from professional sport.
