Daniel Felix Hermann (born October 12, 1986 in Wuppertal ) is a German ice dancer . At the 2009 German Figure Skating Championships held in Oberstdorf in December 2008 , he and his sister Carolina Hermann won the German ice dance championship.

Life

The siblings acquired their first knowledge of figure skating in 1991, first on a frozen pond near their parents' house and later in the ice rink in Solingen . In 1994 they joined the Solingen Gymnastics Association.

Originally both trained for the individual run , it was not until 1997 that they switched to the Dortmund State Performance Center as a dance couple , where they were initially trained by Oleg Ryjkin ; his successors were Vitali Schulz (trainer) and Rostislav Sinicyn (choreographer). In addition, the couple was looked after by national coach Martin Skotnický . The Hermann siblings started for the ERC Westfalen Dortmund.

When Daniel Hermann studied a semester in Vancouver in the 2008/2009 season , the couple trained with Victor Kraatz and his wife Maikki Uotila-Kraatz .

At the European Championships in Helsinki in 2009 , they finished 12th and thus qualified for the World Championships in Los Angeles, where they reached 17th place. In this way, Team Germany secured a quota place for the Olympic Games in Vancouver.

In 2010 the couple trained with Muriel Zazoui and Romain Haguenauer in Lyon ; back in Germany afterwards with René Lohse in Berlin.

In the summer of 2013, the siblings ended their careers together because of Carolina Hermann's knee problems.

Daniel Hermann has now completed his studies in business administration and works for adidas AG. In addition, he continues to work as a volunteer judge, since 2014 he has been a member of the athletes' commission in the German Olympic Sports Confederation .

Daniel Hermann resigned his role as active spokesman for the German Ice Skating Union , which he had held since 2010, in 2015 after Peter Liebers and Jennifer Urban were elected.
