Christina Beier

Christina Beier (born June 9, 1984 in Manila , Philippines ) is a former German figure skater .

biography

Christina Beier was born in Manila to a Filipino mother and a German father. The mother left her husband and children. Father Siegfried Beier returned to Germany with the children shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall . So Christina came to Chemnitz at the age of 6 . Just two months after returning to Germany, Siegfried Beier died in a car accident.

Christina Beier then grew up with relatives of her father who worked in the Chemnitz ice rink. Here she also started figure skating and became an ice dancer. She ran together with her brother William Beier . At the age of 12, she moved to Dortmund with her brother to train ice dancing with Oleg Ryjkin , because this was no longer funded in Chemnitz in 1996. Since then you have started for TSC Eintracht Dortmund .

In 2002 they won the ISU Junior Grand Prix in Beijing . In 2003 the couple finished 5th in the Junior World Championships.

In 2004 they changed coach and training facility and now practiced with Martin Skotnický in Oberstdorf . They were also supported by Kati Winkler .

In 2005 they became German champions in ice dancing as a couple.

Christina Beier is currently a sports soldier in the Bundeswehr.

In October 2005 Christina and William Beier were 3rd at the Nebelhorn Trophy in Oberstdorf. You also finished 6th in Skate America in 2005.

For the Olympic Games in Turin 2006 they could not qualify with 13th place at the European Championship 2006.

In 2008, after an injury break, they were again German champions in ice dancing.

Christina and William separated in 2009. She ran in the 2008/09 season with junior ice dancer Tim Giesen . However, this couple separated at the end of the season and Christina was now training again with her brother William.

The couple retired in August 2010 (William's knee problems)
