attitude

As part of the International Weeks Against Racism, Neumann was the first Jewish representative to speak at the Friday prayer in a mosque in Raunheim and pleaded for mutual cooperation “regardless of religion, origin or skin color”. At the same time, he condemned “ anti-Semitism in the Islamic community” and called for it to be combated.

In an open letter to Patrick Burghardt , Lord Mayor of the city of Rüsselsheim, the LVJGH protested against a concert by Kollegah at the Hessentag, because his texts contained homophobic, sexist and anti-Semitic passages and he was thus serving anti-Jewish clichés. On the same day there was a phone call between Neumann and Kollegah; later to an open letter from the rapper on Facebook. Neumann tried to make it clear to the rapper on the phone that it was completely irrelevant whether he was an anti-Semite or not, but that it depends on what he did. If the texts that the rapper spreads anti-Semitic content, he “doesn't care what Kollegah has in his head”. Neumann is of the opinion: “There must be limits.” These are where texts have the potential to incite others against minorities. He later heavily criticized the Echo Awards ceremony for Kollegah and Farid Bang .
