Daniel Nguyen (born October 16, 1990 in Long Beach , California ) is an American tennis player .

Career

College tennis

Daniel Nguyen, who has Vietnamese roots, played tennis at the University of Southern California College between 2009 and 2011 . During this period he won the men's team championships in 2009 , 2010 and 2011 .

Professional tour

Nguyen is mainly on the third-class ITF Future Tour and the second-class ATP Challenger Tour . So far, he has won 11 singles and 5 doubles on the ITF Future Tour. He won his first Challenger title in Winnipeg when he won the double competition with Mitchell Krueger . In 2017 he celebrated his second double success with Denis Kudla in Binghamton . Nguyen premiered in a Grand Slam tournament in 2009 when he received a wild card for doubles for the US Open . There he lost with JT Sundling to the Argentine duo Máximo González and Juan Mónaco in three sets. In 2016 he received another wildcard for the US Open doubles . This time he and Noah Rubin lost to the pairing Daniel Evans and Nick Kyrgios in two sets.
