Danijel Drilo (born September 18, 1970 in Zagreb ) is a Croatian / German organist and pianist .

Live and act

After attending school with Abitur at the Bunsen-Gymnasium in Heidelberg, he studied and graduated at the State University for Music and Performing Arts Heidelberg-Mannheim ( University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim ) with KMD Peter Schumann the main subject organ and in parallel with Christoph Back, Eckart Heiligers and Hans Thürwächter majored in piano . Furthermore in Mannheim he studied and graduated in the main subjects music theory with Michael Schmoll and listening training with Doris Geller, as well as harpsichord and fortepiano with Egino Klepper and Kristian Nyquist and additionally his "artistic training / artistic maturity test " in the subject organ with Hermann Schäffer, then " concert exam / solo training “in organ with Leo Krämer (Speyer).

His artistic training included participating in several master courses (including piano, organ) interpreting various styles and all epochs, e. B. with Ludger Lohmann , Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini , Jos van der Kooy and Daniel Roth .

He is first prize winner in the highest category at the 1st International Organ Competition " Franjo Dugan " (1995) in Zagreb. This organ competition took place under the auspices of the Croatian Ministry of Culture and the Zagreb Academy of Music.

He has been giving numerous solo concerts at various festivals (including the EF Walcker organ of the Zagreb Cathedral ) for years (throughout Germany and Europe ). He also works as a soloist on well-known historical organs and as a chamber musician on the organ, the piano, as well as the harpsichord, fortepiano and pressure wind harmonium ( art harmonium ).

Since 1995: Participation in national radio broadcasts at various Croatian radio stations (including a discussion concert (2006), interviews on organ building and organ interpretation topics).

Danijel Drilo is a member of the Society for the Promotion of Organ Culture " Franjo Dugan ". He participated in several organ building and organ restoration projects (focus: intonation of contemporary and historical organs), first at the beginning of the nineties with Eberhard Friedrich Walcker , then with other organ building companies. He works as a lecturer at music schools and as a freelance music teacher, he also works as an organist on historically important organs (e.g. the romantic Johann Heinrich Schäfer organ from 1862 in the Dreifaltigkeitskirche (Mannheim) ). Since 2012 he has been working as an organist and lecturer in Munich . He holds master classes for artistic organ playing at various music academies in Croatia and Slovenia and has been a certified organ expert of the Association of Organ Experts in Germany (VOD) since 2015 .
