2006 was based on Dyers role in the film The Football Factory by Nick Love , the documentary series The Real Football Factories produced with it. In each episode, Dyer makes his way to hooligan companies in various cities and clubs in England and Scotland and tries to learn more about football hooliganism. In 2007 the concept was continued with The Real Football Factories - International , with Dyer here u. a. travels to Italy, Croatia, Turkey, Poland, Russia and also to Germany to meet the local hooligans and learn about football hooliganism in other countries. The actor sometimes deliberately puts himself into borderline situations. In 2008, DSF , now Sport1 , cut various episodes of both parts of the series together and created three episodes of their own under the name "On the sidelines - fans and violence". The episodes there are "England", "Italy", "Turkey", "Argentina", "Brazil", "Russia" and "Scotland", whereby only a fraction of the material from Danny Dyer with German voice-over is used. In addition, the broadcaster did its own research, interviews, etc. a. with soccer experts and former professional players and then inserted into the documentation.

After appearing in a number of "junk films" he claims, he made a lauded comeback on the long-running EastEnders in the role of Mick Carter. He has been part of the regular cast there since 2013. Before that, he was widely criticized because his roles were repeated and the quality of the films steadily declined. The Guardian's Stuart Heritage described Dyer as "a seal of quality for low-cost, low-quality British trash cinema". Dyer blamed his drug addiction, but has seen himself rehabilitated since joining EastEnders.
