Daniel "Danny" Kladis (born February 10, 1917 in Crystal City , Missouri , USA ; † April 26, 2009 in Joliet , Illinois USA) was an American racing car driver .
Career
Danny Kladis started in four races of the AAA National Series , including two times in the Indianapolis 500 . In 1946 he was disqualified because his vehicle was towed away. At its start in 1954 , it retired on lap 104 with a leak in the oil tank. He had previously taken over the Bromme - Offenhauser from his compatriot Travis Webb on lap 55 . (Driver changes were allowed at this time).
Since the Indy 500 was part of the drivers' world championship from 1950 to 1960 , it is also a Grand Prix start.
At the time of his death at the age of 92, he was the oldest participant in an Indy 500 race.
