Darius Kampa (Polish: Dariusz Kampa ; born January 16, 1977 in Kędzierzyn-Koźle , Poland ) is a former German football player and current coach . Since 2013 he has been a goalkeeping coach at FC Falke Markt Schwaben in the Bavarian regional soccer league . In addition to German, he also has Polish citizenship.

Career

The goalkeeper started playing football at OSIR Ratibor and continued his career at FC Augsburg in 1987 after his family moved to Germany . Here he matured to the U-21 national player and was the goalkeeper in the regional league in the 1997/98 season. For the 1998/99 season he moved to 1. FC Nürnberg . Here he was initially the second goalkeeper behind Andreas Hilfiker and replaced him on September 27, 1998, the 6th Bundesliga matchday, against Eintracht Frankfurt . In winter, however, Andreas Köpke came back to Nuremberg and Kampa slipped back into the third link.

After relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga at the end of the season, Kampa moved back to the reserve post in the following two second division years and replaced the former national goalkeeper Köpke 15 times in the following two years after injuries and suspensions. After promotion in 2001, Köpke resigned and the way for Kampa as a regular goalkeeper was free. He enjoyed the trust of coach Klaus Augenthaler and was seen in the first half of the season as a reliable support, especially when preventing great opportunities. After performance fluctuations in the second half of the season, he was given a break from a game from coach Augenthaler, but then returned to goal. Kampa was also the regular goalkeeper in the 2002/03 season; at the end of the season the club was relegated.

He lost the space between the posts at the beginning of the second division season 2003/04 , because Nuremberg was speculating on a profitable sale and coach Wolfgang Wolf wanted to build a suitable successor with Raphael Schäfer . He was only used as a substitute goalkeeper. After 67 first and 17 second division games for 1. FC Nürnberg Kampa moved to Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2004 . There he was first goalkeeper and played the first 16 games. After the winter break he was replaced by the goalkeeper of the US national team Kasey Keller and was only the second man behind the American in the 2005/06 season.

For the 2006/07 season Kampa moved to the Hungarian first division team Zalaegerszegi TE FC and played there as a regular goalkeeper. The contract with ZTE was terminated on December 31, 2006 to enable Kampa to switch to the Austrian first division team SK Sturm Graz .

At the beginning of the 2007/08 season he moved to SpVgg Unterhaching , where he signed a two-year contract. There Kampa was the goalkeeper from the beginning and qualified with his team for the newly created 3rd division . For the SpVgg he played 109 games in the 3rd division; as the second player after Carsten Nulle ( FC Carl Zeiss Jena ), he completed his 100th game in the young division. After the 2010/11 season , the main sponsor Generali withdrew and Kampa did not accept the contract offer for the new season. Since he could not find a new club and did not want to leave his home in Munich , he kept fit with the second team of TSV 1860 Munich and played charity games with the traditional team of 1. FC Nürnberg .

Kampa has the A-license for soccer teachers and at times carried out the goalkeeper training for the German national soccer team for women . After staying without a club for over a year, he ended his career in 2012. He then gave presentations at coaching conferences of the Bavarian Football Association and was a guest on TV programs as a football expert.

Since July 30, 2013, Kampa has been running the goalkeeper training once a week on a voluntary basis at FC Falke Markt Schwaben in the Bavarian regional soccer league .
