chronology
Blues For Greeny (1995) Dark Days in Paradise A Different Beat (1999)

Dark Days in Paradise is the 12th studio album by Irish blues rock and hard rock guitarist and singer Gary Moore from 1997. The album was successful in Austria (19th place), Switzerland (22nd place), Sweden ( Place 23), Finland and Norway (place 27), Germany (place 32) and England (place 43) and contained two smaller single hits: One Good Reason (UK # 79) and I Have Found My Love in You (UK # 109).

With this album, Gary Moore tries to show a completely different side and doesn't shy away from making commercial compromises with the pop world. With the inclusion of drum-'n'-bass sounds, funk elements, disco sounds, string passages and ballad-like rock pieces, he wants to address an audience beyond his blues rock or hard rock fan base. Nevertheless, he brings his typical guitar licks and solos into the unusual arrangements.

occupation

reception

Bernd Lechler heard the album for Rolling Stone and considered the record "anything but consistently successful". Moore produced a “mix of styles by mistake”, which is the joke of the album. Lechler was disappointed by the quality of the texts, which would be characterized by "thick platitudes". Only the autobiographical text of "Business as Usual" was able to convince Lechler.

Günther Fischer, who reviewed the record for Spiegel , was more positive. The album contains “beautiful twists” and is a “strong piece of music”. Fischer also praised the quality of the song "Business as Usual", but responded to Moore's guitar playing.
