Still Got the Blues is an album by Northern Irish hard rock and blues guitarist Gary Moore . It was released in March 1990. Moore turned back to the blues after the hard rock album After the War .
history
On Still Got the Blues , Moore was relieved of the pressure of writing hit singles. Nevertheless, or perhaps because of it, the album became one of his greatest successes. He mixed blues standards with his own material on the album. Albert King , Albert Collins and George Harrison participated in the recordings . Harrison also wrote That Kind of Woman .
In 2001 there was a lawsuit over the title track of the album when the German musician Jürgen Winter, founder of the Krautrock band Jud’s Gallery , asserted that the main theme of the song was plagiarized by a guitar passage from his own piece "Nordrach". The Munich Regional Court finally agreed with the plaintiff in 2008: The similarities are so striking that a takeover can be assumed. There is no evidence that Moore consciously adopted the melody. However, "even an unconscious takeover represents a copyright infringement."
criticism
Thomas Kupfer from Rock Hard wrote that the album was "a good LP, but it took some getting used to, but which you should listen to before buying it." He gave it a rating of 7.5 out of 10. The Allmusic website named the album its biggest hit: "Moore plays better than ever, spitting out an endless stream of fiery licks that are both technically impressive and soulful." She gave it a rating of 4.5 out of 5 and selected the record as an "album pick".
