action

Robin Hood and his group of outlaws fight the tyranny of the Nottingham Sheriff. One day a wounded traveler arrives at camp in Sherwood Forest . Before he dies, he whispers something to Robin Hood about danger in the town of Bawtry. A golden emblem that the dead person carries is the only indication of the mysterious danger.

Robin Hood realizes that the Earl of Newark bears the same emblem. Robin pretends to be a forester and is enlisted in the earl's hired archers. With the help of Brother Tuck and Maid Marian, he finds out that the Earl and Sheriff tried to take over the Bawtry Castle. But they failed because of the resistance of the Archbishop of Canterbury .

It became clear to Robin that the archbishop traveling with Maid Marian is to be murdered. Robin can thwart the attack and bring the travelers to safety in a monastery. The sheriff is killed by the earl's men. The Earl storms the monastery, but is repulsed and killed along with his men by Robin and his men. The next morning the departing archbishop gives his blessing for the wedding between Robin and Marian.

Reviews

"Adventure film made with astonishing ambition in terms of image guidance, but otherwise characterized by rather naivety."

“Terence Fisher ('Dracula'), in-house director of London's Hammer Studios, created a rather mediocre adventure with his infusion of the Robin Hood saga. It's nice, however, how the horror mime Peter Cushing turns a bad face into a good game. "

"The Robin Hood Opus [...] is not nearly as filthy as the last 20 or so in this never-ending series."
