The hour hotel of St. Pauli is a German crime drama from the St. Pauli film series. Rolf Olsen directed this film in the winter of 1969/70 with Curd Jürgens in the leading role.

action

Commissioner Canisius from the Hamburg criminal police is informed by his superior, Police Adviser Dr. Marshal, sent to an hour hotel in St. Pauli to investigate a serious crime. A murder has taken place in the “Ostend” hotel. A wide variety of people cavort in this dump, including a homosexual couple, one of whom is brutally stabbed by an unknown person after an argument in the shower. Canisius is actually completely different with his thoughts, as his own son was so badly injured in a demonstration shortly before that that he is now lying on the operating table of a hospital fighting for his life. The inspector now goes to work and interrogates the individual hour hotel guests.

For example, there is a drug addict burglar, a businessman who tracks down his wife with her much younger lover, a teenage couple from diplomatic households, the doorman who deals drugs, and the lustful wife of a well-known and successful businessman who deals with the gardener lost. There is even a suitor in devil costume, and of course the French chambermaid should not be missing. She has just got her boyfriend over for a tête-à-tête. Anyone of these quirky hotel guests could have committed the bloody act, and all of the residents seem to be hiding something. At the same time as his investigations, Canisius hangs on the phone again and again to inquire about the condition of his son in the hospital. The cleaning lady Rose Schuh pours him double cognac after the other to calm him down. Finally, Commissioner Canisius finds the murderer, who is fleeing the hotel with a hostage, on the streets of St. Pauli. Finally, Canisius learns from a phone booth that his son survived the operation well.

criticism

“Homosexuality and murder out of jealousy in a Hamburg hour hotel, mixed with a little generation conflict and social criticism. Another product of the sex and crime wave from the 60s / 70s. "
