The Dream Ship: Perth is a German television film directed by Stefan Bartmann , which was first broadcast on January 1, 2014 on ZDF . It is the 71st episode of the television series Das Traumschiff .

According to the concept of the TV series, different storylines are told alternately.
Sonja Blum, former owner of a catering company who fought against cancer for four years , is setting off with her two best friends Nicole König and Daniela Lüders on her "annual girls tour". This time it should not be three days in the Allgäu , but three weeks of cruising . Nicole, in her early 40s, has been chief secretary and personal assistant for many years, has to find out from her boss on the phone that she has been replaced by a younger colleague. Daniela, married with two grown children, receives a call from a private investigator who tells her that her husband is cheating on her with his intern. However, the three friends soon got into an argument and taunts each other because Nicole and Daniela do not speak openly with Sonja about their dissatisfaction. However, Sonja wants to uncover the secret of her friends and wants them to be honest. With a desperate-sounding SMS that she wants to be alone, Sonja succeeds in luring her friends out of the reserve. Together they set off on a car tour into the Australian outback . After a car breakdown, they are picked up by Aborigines and the ship's doctor Dr. Sander and his friends, the Air Doctors , saved. The three friends finally speak out, want to revive their friendship and decide to give their life a new meaning. Together they reopen Sonja's catering company.
Jonas Lennart, the nine-year-old son of the widowed young ship's cook Marius Lennart, is also on board. He is determined to Australia to again koala bears seen in the wild. His greatest wish is to later become a "koala protector". His grandmother, who was supposed to be accompanying him on the trip, had an accident and was unable to come. The maid Claudia Stricker has to step in as a childcare worker more often. Jonas, who has longed for a new mom, likes Claudia very much. At the end of the day , Claudia and Marius leave Germany to build a family life together in Hamburg .
The former chief steward of Germany , Victor Burger, is returning to the ship as the new captain . So far he had only traveled on cargo ships . His freighter had been hijacked by pirates in the Gulf of Aden , killing a crew member. After openly criticizing the shipping company , he was fired. Shortly afterwards he received the offer to return to Germany .
Beatrice has to learn that Victor is no longer the steward and sun boy from before, but is now the captain with authority and maturity. He puts in a good word for Marius with the head chef, gets through his shore leave and also finds the right words as a life coach for Claudia, Jonas and Marius.

In the program notice on ZDF.de , the broadcaster wrote: “For ten years, Sascha Hehn was on board the ZDF 'dream ship' as steward Victor (1981 to 1987) and first officer Stefan (1987 to 1991). […] 22 years later, we come full circle. Sascha Hehn returns and takes command of the MS Deutschland as captain Victor Burger. Filming took place on January 5th, 2013 in Perth and the surrounding area. The actors were flown in for their shooting days as it is cheaper. A vacation on board during idle times, as was common in earlier years, is no longer financed by the production company. The first broadcast on ZDF on January 1, 2014 was seen by 8.66 million viewers and achieved a market share of 23 percent. For ZDF, this was the highest number of viewers in three years.
