David Nii Addy (born February 21, 1990 in Prampram ) is a Ghanaian soccer player who has been under contract with the Latvian club Riga FC since September 2017 .
Career
society
David Addy played in his youth at the clubs SC Adelaide and International Allies FC until he moved to the professional division of All Stars FC in 2006 . In the summer of 2008 he went to Denmark to join Randers FC , fell ill with yellow fever before moving and took a few months to recover. He made his debut against Vejle BK on October 19, 2008 when he came on for Tiago Targino in the 84th minute . After he played 8 times for the Randers in his first season, he played his first game in the on June 2, 2009 as part of qualifying for the 2009/10 UEFA Europa League against FC Linfield in a 4-0 victory Qualifying round for a European competition. In the third round, his club was eliminated from the competition, after two legs they lost 4-1 to Hamburger SV .
On February 1, 2010, he moved to the Portuguese top club FC Porto for 800,000 euros , where he signed a three-and-a-half year contract. By the end of the season he did not play a single game for Porto, but managed to win the Portuguese Football Cup with a 2-1 win over GD Chaves .
In July 2010 he was awarded to the league competitor Académica de Coimbra . In his first game against Benfica Lisbon he had to leave the field in the 50th minute with a yellow-red card. A month later he saw another red card against Rio Ave FC . On February 6, 2011, he scored his first goal for his new club in a 3-3 draw against SC Beira-Mar . On matchday 28, he saw his third expulsion of the season against Marítimo Funchal . Therefore, a commitment was not made and Addy returned to FC Porto. The Spanish club Celta Vigo expressed interest in signing the defender.
For the 2011/12 season he was loaned to the Greek club Panetolikos . In September 2012 Addy moved to Vitória Guimarães and scored his first league goal in his first game against Moreirense FC , which was his only goal . He also won the Portuguese Cup with this team .
After 39 league appearances in two seasons for Guimarães, he moved to the Belgian first division team Waasland-Beveren in summer 2014 . He made his debut for Waasland on August 9 against KVC Westerlo (1: 1). This was followed by stadiums in India with Delhi Dynamos and in Finland with RoPS before he moved to Riga FC in September 2017 .
National team
Addy was part of the Ghanaian U-20 national team for the U-20 World Cup in Egypt in 2009 . He played seven games and won the tournament in the final against Brazil 4-3 on penalties. On June 8, 2008, he was first called into the squad for the game against Lesotho , but was not used. In the second leg on October 11, he also spent the entire game on the bench. He made his international debut against South Africa in just four days and was substituted on for Emmanuel Ansong in the 84th minute . By 2013 David Addy had played a total of 17 international matches.
