David Michael Baker (born July 14, 1972 in New Haven , Connecticut ) is a professional American poker player . He is two-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker . Because of a poker player of the same name , he is nicknamed "Original David Baker" or "ODB" for short.

Baker graduated from Auburn University in Alabama with a degree in finance and then worked in sales. He lives in Sahuarita .
Poker career
Career
Baker learned poker at the university and began in the 1990s, variant PLO in casinos in New Orleans to play. He discovered Texas Hold'em in the early 2000s . Since 2004 he has been taking part in renowned live tournaments .
In mid-March 2005, Baker made the money at the main event of the World Poker Tour (WPT) played on a cruise ship and finished 31st, endowed with more than 30,000 US dollars . In February 2006 he won his first live tournament at the LA Poker Classic in Los Angeles and secured a prize money of around 70,000 dollars. At the end of June 2006 , Baker was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and came five times in the money. In October 2006, he sat at the final table of the WPT Main Event at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas and finished fifth for around $ 125,000. At the 2010 WSOP , Baker finished third out of over 3,000 players in a Hold'em event for more than $ 200,000 in prize money. At the main event of the series, he then reached the eighth day of the tournament and was eliminated there in 17th place, which was paid for almost $ 400,000. At the 2012 WSOP , Baker cashed eight times, including four final tables. The highlight was winning an 8-game tournament , which earned him a bonus of around $ 270,000 and a bracelet . In June 2015 , Baker finished third in the WSOP Poker Player's Championship for just under $ 515,000. Two years later he finished third and second in tournaments of the Razz variant at the 2017 WSOP . In early March 2019, Baker won the WPT Main Event in Los Angeles and secured a prize of over a million dollars. At the 2019 WSOP , he won the Limit Hold'em tournament and received his second bracelet and the grand prize of more than $ 160,000.
In total, Baker has earned almost six million dollars with poker in live tournaments.
