David Lloyd (born January 3, 1948 in Leigh-on-Sea , Essex ) is a retired British tennis player and businessman . In his career he was most successful in doubles with his brother. Here he won in London in 1976 and moved into the finals the following year at the Queen's Club in London and in Helsinki. He achieved his best results in Grand Slam tournaments at Wimbledon .

He and his younger brother John Lloyd became two of the most successful British tennis players of the 1970s and 1980s. David was captain of the British Davis Cup team and became a prominent figure in the Lawn Tennis Association . As a businessman he founded the David Lloyd Leisure Clubs, the Next Generation fitness clubs and the David Lloyd Resorts. He was also chairman of the Hull City AFC and Hull FC when he left them both on the verge of bankruptcy . He also trained Tim Henman .

In May 2007 Lloyd bought the art collection of the artist Willard Wigan . Lloyd has been a real estate agent in Phuket since 2012 .
