David Lyons (born April 16, 1976 in Melbourne , Victoria ) is an Australian actor who is best known in Europe for his leading role in two seasons of the Emergency Room series .

Lyons graduated from Australia's National Institute for Performing Arts and achieved initial success in the Australian television series Sea Patrol in his role as seaman Josh . In 2008 he first played the role as Dr. Simon Brenner in the American series Emergency Room . After a listing among the guest and supporting actors, he was named as the main actor from the 15th season. Lyons worked in this series up to the final episode. In 2011 he starred as Vince Faraday in the action series The Cape . In March 2012 he was cast in the pilot of the Eric Kripke thriller series Revolution , which aired on NBC from September 2012 to May 2014 . In 2013, Lyons starred in the Nicholas Sparks film adaptation of Safe Haven as Kevin Tierney . Other leading characters were Cobie Smulders , Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel .
