Defne is a municipality in the Turkish province of Hatay, founded in 2012 . It emerged from a division of the central city district ( Merkez ). Defne covers the southern parts of the city of Antakya with the neighboring villages and has 137,398 inhabitants. In addition to the urban part of Antakya, ten parishes ( Belediye ) and 23 villages belong to Defne. Some of these places previously belonged to the Samandağ district.

The ancient suburb of Daphne (now the Harbiye district) served as the godfather for the name.
