Deirdre Lovejoy

Deirdre Lovejoy (born June 30, 1962 in Abilene , Texas ) is an American actress . She became known for the role of prosecutor Rhonda Pearlman in the HBO series The Wire .

Life

Lovejoy's father worked for the United States Air Force in Texas, where Lovejoy was born. She spent her early childhood in Texas, then Connecticut and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After her parents divorced, her mother remarried and moved to Elkhart , Indiana . Lovejoy spent her school days there and was already interested in the theater. She was already on stage as a 5-grader and worked on various local stage productions until she graduated from high school.

After school, she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Evansville and then a Masters in Theater Studies in 1987 from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University .

Deirdre Lovejoy has appeared in several Broadway plays and has played roles in theaters in various locations in the United States, including the Old Globe Theater in San Diego in 2005 .
