Delitzsch unt Bf ("Delitzsch lower station") is an operating point on the Trebnitz – Leipzig line . In addition to the upper train station, it is one of two tourist train stations and public transport hub in the Saxon district town of Delitzsch . The station is located in the Southeast regional area.

location

The station complex is located in the eastern city center. The station building stands in the extended east-west axis of Eisenbahnstrasse and Eilenburger Strasse, which connects the train station with the city center. To the north of the station, the station promenades, to the south of Bismarckstrasse and to the east of Berliner Strasse, delimit the station area.

In front of the reception building on Eisenbahnstraße, which connects the train station with Bundesstraße 183a , there are Park & Ride parking spaces in both the north-west and south-west directions . Also located on Eisenbahnstrasse is a bus station for the regional and city bus routes operated by Auto Webel GmbH , Omnibusverkehr Leupold and a taxi stand.

To the northeast of the station is the site of the former Reichsbahn repair shop in Delitzsch , today a EuroMaint Rail plant for the repair of passenger coaches.

history

With the commissioning of the railway line (Berlin–) Bitterfeld – Leipzig , Delitzsch had a connection to the national railway network from 1859 onwards.

The station area once belonged to the community of Grünstraße and at the time the station was built was located in front of the city gates. In 1862 the community including the train station was incorporated into Delitzsch.

On April 16, 1945, the station was destroyed by a US fighter-bomber. Only the outer walls of the station building remained, a reconstruction took place between 1946 and 1950. On January 19, 1950, the new station was reopened under the name "Unterer Bahnhof" - it was previously called "Berliner Bahnhof".

From 1991 to 1993, as part of the German Unity Transport Project No. 8.3 (expansion line Berlin – Leipzig / Halle), extensive renovation work took place at the station and on the Bitterfeld – Delitzsch and Delitzsch – Zschortau sections. Thus were domestic and the central platform and an approximately 40-meter-long pedestrian tunnel to 1993, completely rebuilt. In addition, a new route south of Delitzsch allowed a maximum line speed between Bitterfeld and Zschortau of 160 km / h from the mid-1990s.

From January to August 2004, the entire station forecourt was rebuilt and modernized for around 855,000 euros. This included, among other things, the construction of 200 covered bicycle parking spaces, the new construction of the bus station and the access to the railway site as well as the widening of the platform access. In addition, 63 parking spaces were created on the old area of the bus station.

With the opening of the City Tunnel in Leipzig in December 2013, the station was integrated into the new network of Central Germany's S-Bahn .
