Denis Epstein (born July 2, 1986 in Cologne ) is a German soccer player .

Career

The son of the Cologne soccer coach Dieter Epstein played in the youth teams of 1. FC Cologne from the age of twelve and played 31 games for the second team in the Regionalliga Nord between 2004 and 2006 . He was used for the first time on October 16, 2005 against Hannover 96 (1: 4) in the 1st Bundesliga when he came on for Dimitrios Grammozis in the 72nd minute . On November 5, 2005, Epstein scored his first goal in the top German soccer league to make it 1-1 in his second Bundesliga game in an away game against VfL Wolfsburg . He came into play in the 59th minute for Marvin Matip . On December 3, 2005 he played for the first time in the Bundesliga from the start.

After his position as a loan player from January 2007 at Rot-Weiss Essen in the Regionalliga Nord, Epstein dissolved his contract with 1. FC Cologne in July 2007 and joined Kickers Offenbach . From the 2008/09 season he played for the Greek first division club Iraklis Thessaloniki and moved to Olympiacos Piraeus for the 2010/11 season , where he met coach Ewald Lienen . He was loaned directly to AO Kerkyra for a year and came back to Piraeus during the 2011 summer break . However, his contract was dissolved, so he did not play a game for Olympiacos. On July 19, 2011, the Greek first division club Atromitos Athens signed him .

On July 1, 2013, Epstein moved to the German second division club FSV Frankfurt .

After relegating to the 3rd division with Frankfurt, he returned to AO Kerkyra in the summer of 2016. There he was active for two seasons. After another station in Greece, at PAS Lamia , Epstein joined the German fourth division  club TSG Balingen in the summer of 2019 .

National team

Epstein took part with the German U-19 national team in the U-19 European Championship in 2005 and reached the semi-finals there.
