Sören Pirson (born August 27, 1985 in Essen ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper .

Career

In his youth, the goalkeeper played at the suburban club SV Burgaltendorf in Essen , at Schwarz-Weiß Essen , Rot-Weiß Oberhausen and Fortuna Düsseldorf . For the 2002/03 season Pirson moved to Borussia Dortmund's youth team . 2004 Pirson rose to the second team of BVB. After a cruciate ligament tear by Bernd Meier , the substitute goalkeeper of the Bundesliga team, Pirson moved up as the third goalkeeper in the Dortmund professional squad in the 2005/06 season . From the 2006/07 season he was Roman Weidenfeller's substitute goalkeeper at BVB. Pirson's only appearance for the BVB professional team came in October 2006 at the DFB Cup game in the second round against Hannover 96 , when regular goalkeeper Weidenfeller was sent off after a handball outside the penalty area. In addition, he was still with the second team that played in the Regionalliga Nord , in goal. Pirson was very popular with the supporters of Borussia due to his natural demeanor and his interest in the fan scene.

For the 2007/08 season Pirson moved to the second division relegated Rot-Weiss Essen . He was in the starting line-up on the first matchday of the season, but lost his place in goal after the 1: 4 defeat against Rot-Weiß Oberhausen to Daniel Masuch and did not play any more in the league until the end of the season. After missing qualification for the 3rd division , he was committed to second division promoted Rot-Weiß Oberhausen. On November 23, 2008 Pirson came on in the second division game against SV Wehen Wiesbaden in the 74th minute for Christoph Semmler and made his professional debut. Since then he has been the goalkeeper at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen. After relegation in the 2010/11 season, Pirson's contract was not renewed.

For the 2011/12 season Pirson moved to the Greek first division club Diethnis Enosis Ergotelis and was there first as a regular goalkeeper between the posts. During the season he lost his regular place. At the end of the season, the club was relegated third from bottom of the Super League.

For the 2012/13 season , the German second division club FSV Frankfurt Pirson signed. He signed a two-year contract until June 2014 and is supposed to replace the previous substitute goalkeeper Michael Langer , who had left the club. As expected, Pirson was only number two behind Patric Klandt at FSV , but was allowed to play a second division game in the last game of the 2012/13 season at Eintracht Braunschweig (2-2). Two more missions followed in the 2013/14 season . In the 2015/16 season Pirson rose with the FSV without a single use as the table penultimate from the 2nd Bundesliga . His contract was extended anyway, so that he came to 34 missions in the 2016/17 season . Nevertheless, the FSV Frankfurt rose as the bottom of the table from the 3rd division in the Regionalliga Südwest , Pirson's contract was not extended.

In July 2015, he and his club colleague Denis Epstein were nominated for the XY Prize for moral courage .
