Clifford began playing basketball at Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School in his hometown of Bridgewater . There he was named the All-Star of the Old Colony League in his first year and was voted the most valuable player in the league in his second year . He then attended Boston College , where he shared a room with Patrick Heckmann . Despite some injuries, he was named team captain as a sophomore . In 2016 he signed up for the NBA Draft , but was not drafted. Instead, despite an offer from the Greek Basket League, he moved to the NBA G-League after a local try-out to the Santa Cruz Warriors , the farm team of the Golden State Warriors . Contrary to the expectations of some experts, he played a good season and was elected to the league's all-star team. Although he was even awarded the quality of being able to make the leap into the NBA , the German Bundesliga club Alba Berlin announced Clifford's commitment at the beginning of the 2017/18 season . He was used in every main round and playoff game in the Bundesliga and the EuroCup and was considered the emotional leader of the team. In July 2018, the club announced the extension of its contract for another year.
