action
Abby has been planning her 16th birthday ever since she was a little girl. Abby even has a list where she can write down what she wants up to her 16th birthday. When that day comes, she adds her 16th and final wish to her secret list on the inside of her closet door. To her surprise, she receives a box of Sweet 16 birthday candles from a woman named Celeste , each candle matching a wish on her list. Abby is finally popular, sporty, fashionable and getting her crush's attention. As her wishes all come true, her day just keeps getting better and better until she utters the wish that will change everything. Abby's last wish - to be treated like an adult - goes horribly wrong, and Abby only has until midnight to get her old life back before her wish becomes permanent.
criticism
"Fairytale-like youth film with a gently dosed pedagogical message, unpretentiously staged in the conventional framework of the genre."
