The steam hammer by end-Ling , also slit ear and eye slot is a martial arts comedy from Hong Kong by Ricky Lau from to 1979.
action
The young Chow Hau wants to learn Kung Fu . With his little monkey he tries to earn money on the way to a monastery in order to finance his education. At a game he mocks the young Sek Tin Kwan, who promises to take revenge. Since the monkey is not doing well, Chow Hau lets Dr. Giving Chu an agent that Sek Tin Kwan secretly exchanges. The monkey is now given a laxative from which it dies. Chow Hau is desperate but realizes that Dr. Chu is a good kung fu fighter. Chu would train him if he would run the house for him in return and take care of his daughter Li Mops. However, the daughter turns out to be mentally overdone, so Chow Hau refuses. He is now referred to Master Kwan, who turns out to be Sek Tin Kwan's father. Kwan is ambushed and Chow Hau and Dr. Chu rush to help him and his men. This is how Chow Hau and Sek Tin Kwan are reconciled.
During the fight, the housemaid, Dr. Chus, Mei Ling, his apartment and flees with gold and jewels that Chu once looted in a robbery. Chu still refuses to work as a kung fu teacher, but refers to his brother, whom Chow Hau and Sek Tin Kwan are supposed to get. However, they confuse the brother with the brutal Mak Tai Lo, who still has an account with Chu about the attack. Mak Tai Lo can be brought to Chu and kills him in a duel because he no longer has the gold of the attack. Sek Tin Kwan's father is also killed by Mak Tai Lo and the son swears vengeance. With Chow Hau he looks for a new Kung Fu teacher, whom they find in a money lender and later in a teacher who hates the Japanese. After their apprenticeship, they happen to see Mei Ling again, who admits the theft of yore. Her father was killed in the attack. Mai Ling attacks the two young men, but is killed by Mak Tai Lo, who also appears. Chow Hau and Sek Tin Kwan finally manage to kill Mak Tai Lo and take the gold. There is another happy ending for Sek Tin Kwan: He marries Chu's daughter Li Mops.
German version
The film was released on July 10, 1981 in the Federal Republic of Germany. The German dubbed version was created by Team-Synchron based on the book and directed by Sigi Kraemer in Munich . The German title is an allusion to the Munich district of Sendling . A special feature is that the main character Chow Hau speaks Bavarian throughout (which is explained in the film by the fact that he grew up in Bavaria) and a few other characters speak other German dialects. The actors were dubbed by some well-known voice actors: Michael Ande (Chow Hau - Bavarian), Ivar Combrinck (Sek Tin Kwan), Christian Marschall (money lender / Kung Fu teacher - Saxon), Norbert Gastell (Master Kwan), Erich Ebert and Michael Cramer (both Dr. Chu - kölsch), Bettina Kenter (Mei Ling - Swabian), Kurt E. Ludwig (Mak Tai Lo), Herbert Weicker (fishing master), Inez Günther (Li Mops) and, in smaller roles, Leo Bardischewski , Leon Rainer and Willi Roebke .
On December 6, 2005, the film was released in Germany for the first time in abbreviated form on DVD (uncut version 2008). On July 24, 2015 Send-Ling's Der Dampfhammer was shown as part of the series The worst films of all time (SchleFaZ) on Tele 5 on German television, commenting on it by Oliver Kalkofe and Peter Rütten .

"Confused story with a lot of action and a little bit of gossip," said the film service . "Dilettante fight scenes and ridiculously grimacing actors - so far, so bad", stated Cinema , but found that the dubbing saves the film.
