occupation

The fakir is a Danish children's film by director Peter Flinth from the year 2004 . It is a film adaptation of the youth book Ein Fakir for all cases by Bjarne Reuter .

action

The twins Emma (Julie Zangenberg) and Tom (Aksel Leth) move into an old creepy house with their widowed mother. The funeral director Moony, who is also a real estate agent, brokered this for them.

In the basement of the house Emma finds a pen in which a Spaniard is locked. Lombardo turns out to be not very grateful that Emma freed him from the pen. But he gave it to her in writing that he would grant her three wishes as thanks. So Lombardo has three more mundane wishes to fulfill, since he's just a simple variety wizard who performed with his late twin brother fifty years ago. The simple-minded Lombardy annoys the siblings at first, mostly with his bestial smell . Tom thinks that Lombardo stinks “like rotten eggs”, for Emma it stinks “like a stale sewer”. The two try everything possible to rid Lombardo of the stench, but nothing will work. Later, the mother also notices the smell, but doesn't know where it comes from, as Lombardo can always hide from her relatively successfully. Even when she runs into it for the first time in the cemetery near the house, she immediately notices the stench ("like a mixture of sewer and rotting rat"), but does not notice that it is emanating from it. Instead, she suspects at a later point in time that the smell is coming from a drain in the basement (where Lombardo is hiding at the time) and dumps a cleaning agent (“the strongest there is”) into it, whereupon the stench disappears. That makes Lombardy a lot more likeable for the children too.

However, when the Schmidt couple turns up, who absolutely want to buy the house, Lombardo also has to take a more active part in the treasure hunt. Because this “married couple” are the Lambert brothers who broke out of prison. The crook duo has hidden a diamond ring in the house.

An elk head , which also gave the house its name, plays an important role in the search for diamonds . The children finally manage to find the Koo-Loon diamond, but Lombardo simply disappears with the jewel. On Christmas Day he reappears as the guest of honor at the party and proposes to her mother. The engagement ring is the ring with Koo-Loon.

particularities

Julie Zangenberg plays the lead role in another family film after her first very successful film Climbing Ida .

The German actor Moritz Bleibtreu plays the title role. The Spanish "fakir" Lombardo only speaks broken Danish, so Bleibtreu's role was not dubbed afterwards . The text was learned phonetically from him . In the German version he speaks himself.

Trivia

The name of the brilliant Koo-Loon is a Danish inside joke. Tom thinks in the film that the name sounds like spring roll. The Danish company Daloon makes frozen spring rolls.

Awards

In 2005 the film The Fakir won the Robert Prize for the best make-up and the best special effects.
