The film marks the beginning of the television series Medicopter 117 - Every Life Counts , the 81 episodes of which were broadcast in 7 seasons from January 12, 1998 to June 28, 2007 on RTL.

The rescue crew of Medicopter 117 is expecting three missions. First, a truck and a car crashed into each other head-on and the truck threatens to explode. Biggi, Gabi and Ralf really have to give everything to prevent worse. Then there is a shift change and Thomas, Michael and Peter are asked. A burning ship on the Chiemsee, on board two men and a heavily pregnant woman who is going into labor, threatens to sink.

The last mission is for air rescue, which flies a key witness to testify against a mafia boss in court. A killer squad takes on the chase in a second helicopter.
