Elisabeth Lanz (born June 12, 1971 in Graz ) is an Austrian theater and television actress . She is the sister of the actress Barbara Lanz . Since 2006 she has played the role of Dr. Susanne Mertens in the TV series Veterinarian Dr. Mertens .

Life

Lanz grew up in the SOS Children's Village Altmünster , of which her father was the director, and attended a high school for music and education. She completed her high school diploma in Gmunden in 1990 , went to Paris for several months and then to London to perfect herself in both languages.

She first studied linguistics, communication science and philosophy, later law and theater studies in Vienna. Her sister Barbara also became an actress. Lanz was three times Austrian youth athletics champion.

She completed her acting training from 1993 at the acting school at the Volkstheater Vienna . As a theater actress, she played at the Theater in der Josefstadt , the Volkstheater and the Burgtheater ( Liliom and Die Dreigroschenoper , both directed by Paulus Manker ) before moving in front of the camera.

In the 1993 film Ich gelobe , which was awarded the Vienna Film Prize in 1994 , she was seen for the first time in a film role in the role of Susi. Appearances in television series followed. Among other things, she was seen in the television productions Ein Scheusal zum Faller (as Anna Hofer), Wink des Himmels (as Paula Krämer), Klinik unter Palmen (as sister Anja) or in Lotti on the run . She had her first major serial role in All My Daughters as Sister Afra. In the ZDF television series Velvet and Silk , she played as the entrepreneur's daughter Cornelia Althofer. From February 2012 she took on the leading role of Susann Winter in the eighth season of the ARD telenovela Rote Rosen for 200 episodes alongside Falk-Willy Wild . For Der Aufbruch (2003) she not only played Elisabeth Fuchsmaier, but also helped write the script. In the movie Die Spur im Schnee from 2005 she portrayed the main character Elisabeth Fuchsmaier / Constanze Fuchsmaier and was responsible for character development. The film won the 2005 Jury Award at the Garden State Film Festival in the category "Best Feature - Foreign Language".

In the ARD television series Veterinarian Dr. Mertens , she has played the title role of zoo veterinarian Dr. Susanne Mertens.

Elisabeth Lanz has lived with her family on the outskirts of Munich since 2010. a. for the Federal Association of Children's Hospice, SOS Children's Villages and WWF .
