The great swindle (Original title: Swindle ) is an American television film from 2013, which was produced on behalf of Nickelodeon . The film is loosely based on the novel Swindle by Gordon Korman.

For Griffin Bing, the easiest thing to do is to bail anyone out, no matter how hopeless the situation may be. When his best friend Ben Dupree finds a baseball trading card, they want to cash it in quickly. They think they are getting a good deal with the dubious junk dealer Mr. Swindell. They quickly discover that the baseball card is more valuable than Mr. Swindell wanted them to believe. The two are appalled that they were defrauded of $ 1.2 million.
Griffin manages to gather all classmates who owe him a favor. Together they want to get the valuable card back and join forces to put an end to the deception.

In 2009, Gordon Korman signed a deal with Nickelodeon that includes Korman's novels Swindle and Schooled being made for television. In autumn 2012, the first film was finally announced. The action comedy has a similar structure to the movie Ocean's Eleven . The lead roles include many actors known from Nickelodeon series such as Jennette McCurdy ( iCarly ), Ariana Grande ( Victorious ), Noah Munck ( iCarly ) and Ciara Bravo ( Big Time Rush ). The film was produced for five million US dollars by Pacific Bay Entertainment and Nickelodeon Productions. Nickelodeon Network was responsible for global marketing. The film was shot in Vancouver in autumn 2012 .
It first aired in the United States on August 24, 2013 on Nickelodeon , reaching 4.2 million viewers. The film was first shown in Germany and Austria on March 22, 2014.
