occupation

The red carpet is a German documentary film by Andrea Asch and Eric Asch . The premiere took place on January 18, 2007 at the Max Ophüls Preis film festival in Saarbrücken, and it was first broadcast on German television on September 6, 2007.

action

The film is about Axel Brauns , an autistic person. He describes how he experienced his childhood and youth and reflects on it from today's perspective. Back then, faces were nebulae for him, he could not read human emotions. He has managed to break out of his own world, or as he calls it, “trick his autism” by dealing with language. He wrote the novel Buntschatten und Bats and holds readings. He continues the confrontation with other people by making a film in which an autistic person is the main actor. The goal of these efforts is to be socially recognized.

reception

“His autobiographical debut novel Buntschatten und Fledermäuse became a bestseller. Then Axel Brauns from Hamburg saw the blockbuster Independence Day and wanted to become a director. Infinitely difficult for an autistic
person ... Andrea and Eric Asch show an unusual person, their graduation film at the Munich Film School was a special portrait. "

"The film shows Brauns working on his first film, which should pave his way to Hollywood."
