Desirée Treichl-Stürgkh

Desirée Treichl-Stürgkh (born September 1, 1964 in Bad Radkersburg , Styria ) is an Austrian journalist and publisher .

Life

Treichl-Stürgkh comes from the counts, Austrian noble family Stürgkh . Her grandfather, Barthold Stürgkh (1898–1965) was Provincial Governor of Styria and temporarily President of the Council of Europe's Agricultural Commission . Karl Graf Stürgkh (1859–1916), von Barthold's uncle, was an Austrian politician and Prime Minister.

Treichl-Stürgkh grew up with her siblings at the family residence Schloss Halbenrain . The family property was later sold, however. In 1982 she passed her Matura at the St. Ursula high school and upper secondary school of the Vienna Ursulines . She attended the Matura course at the commercial academy on Karlsplatz in Vienna . She completed a university course in advertising and sales at the Vienna University of Economics and Business . In 1984 she passed her diploma as an advertising specialist there.

Treichl-Stürgkh began her professional career in the field of fashion journalism at various advertising agencies in Vienna and Munich . Until 1989 she worked among others for the picture publishing house and the film historical picture archive of Peter Engelmeier and for the German men Vogue in Munich. In 1989 she returned to Vienna. From 1989 to 1996 she worked for the fashion magazine DIVA published by Radda & Dressler Verlag in Vienna . She wrote a column about men's fashion in the Austrian men's magazine Ego at the time . Treichl-Stürgkh has been a partner in AHEAD Media Verlags GmbH since 1997, where she was responsible for founding the HOME and IQ Style magazines . She is the publisher and editor-in-chief of the living magazine HOME and co-organizer of the annual HOME-Depot, an exclusive furniture fair in the Semperdepot in Vienna.

From 2008 Treichl-Stürgkh succeeded Elisabeth Gürtler as the organizer of the Vienna Opera Ball . In January 2010, Treichl-Stürgkh announced that after Ioan Holender left the company, she would also take over the organization of the Vienna Opera Ball in 2011. On January 19, 2016, she announced her resignation as the organizer of the opera ball. Her successor was Maria Großbauer .

In 2009 she published the etiquette book Lifestyle: How to get through life better with charm and elegance.

Treichl-Stürgkh is married to the Austrian bank manager Andreas Treichl , the general manager of Erste Group . She is the mother of three children.

In 2017 she was awarded the Golden Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria .
