Life
Maria Großbauer, nee Jeitler, was born as the daughter of trombonist and former member of the Vienna Philharmonic Karl Jeitler (* 1947). She grew up in Ternitz . Großbauer came into contact with music at an early age, and as a child she regularly accompanied her father to orchestra rehearsals. At the age of 5 she received her first music lessons. She first learned the recorder and flute , later piano and saxophone . As a teenager she founded her own music ensemble and played in various music formations.
After graduating from high school , Großbauer first attended the Berlitz School of Languages in Vienna . From 1999 to 2001, she trained as an advertising specialist at the Vienna Advertising Academy. There she completed the specialist course for market communication, which she completed with a diploma from the International Advertising Association (IAA, NY). In 2002 she won the "Young Creatives Competition" and took part as representative of Austria in a competition at the International Advertising Festival in Cannes .
From 2001, she worked for ten years at various national and international advertising agencies as a copywriter in the text / concept area. In June 2011 she started her own advertising agency as a sole proprietor in Vienna.
Großbauer also studied jazz saxophone from 2004 to 2007 at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna . In addition to her full-time job in advertising, she then performed for a few years between 2006 and 2009 as a freelance musician with the five-member funk fusion band “Maria Jeitler Funk Project”.
In 2012 she published her book In Frack und Lederhose , a biography about her father Karl Jeitler, at Styria Verlag .
In March 2016 she was officially introduced by Dominique Meyer , the director of the Vienna State Opera , as the successor to Desirée Treichl-Stürgkh as the organizer of the Vienna Opera Ball. There had already been rumors about her appointment in January 2016. She rejected allegations that she owed her position to a typical Viennese "Freunderlwirtschaft", citing the social networking that is common internationally . In 2017 she was responsible for the organization of the Vienna Opera Ball for the first time. She is the youngest woman to date in this position.
On July 18, 2017, it was announced that she would run for sixth place on the Kurz list in the National Council election. In October 2017, Großbauer was elected to the National Council as an ÖVP member .
Großbauer has been married to Andreas Großbauer , former board member and 1st violinist of the Vienna Philharmonic, since 2012 . The couple has a son.
